WACVB orchestrates cooperative promotion of the State as a meetings and convention destination. The Think Wisconsin campaign targets meeting planners through advertising, trade shows and thinkwisconsin.com. WACVB also has a Web site for leisure travelers – escapetowisconsin.com - and is leading a statewide sports marketing effort through such vehicles as sportswisconsin.com. WACVB is a partner in the Wisconsin Tourism Federation and is one of the lead players on Room Tax Reform and School Start Date legislation. NEWS - 3/10 - WACVB is workinging closely with the Wisconsin Department of Tourism on encouraging Wisconsin companies to hold their meetings in Wisconsin. The Meetings Mean Business in Wisconsin campaign was launched by Governor Doyle March 15 and will be promoted in many WACVB destinations. Read More 3/10 WACVB Day at the Capitol brought more than 20 destination marketing organizations to the capitol to convince legislators the value of tourism promotion funding, proper use of room tax and other issues affecting Wisconsin's tourism industry. - 11/09 - Door County Visitor Bureau (DCVB) recently received WACVB's Destination Marketing Organization(DMO) Certification. WACVB awards the certification to DMOs that meet a set of stringent destination marketing, organization, financial and personnel standards. Standards include having a non-profit organization that clearly recognizes the connection between tourism promotion and economic prosperity and provides several destination marketing services to visitors. DCVB joins the following certified Destination Marketing Organizations: Wisconsin Dells VCB, Greater Madison CVB, LaCrosse Area CVB, Janesville CVB, Fox Cities CVB, Washington County CVB, Racine County CVB, Chippewa valley CVB, Oshkosh CVB, Manitowoc VCB, Brookfield CVB, Greater Green Bay CVB, Hayward Lakes VCB, Bayfield Chamber of Commece & CVB, Wisconsin Rapids Area CVB, Visit Milwaukee and Visit Beloit. 11/09 - WACVB awarded the 2009 Wisconsin Tourism Trailblazer awards to Wisconsin resident and national tourism consultant Bill Geist, Door County Visitors Bureau, Green County Tourism and Fox Cities & Greater Green Bay CVBs.
