Most major Madison attractions offer free or low-cost admission, including the majestic State Capitol, Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Monona Terrace Convention Center, six downtown museums, Henry Vilas Zoo, University of Wisconsin-Madison campus, and Olbrich Botanical Gardens. Season highlights

Winter: Enjoy theater and music performances at the Overture Center for the Arts or Union Theatre, winter Farmer's Market, University of Wisconsin basketball and hockey or relax in the warmth of the Olbrich Botanical Gardens. Hop on some cross country skis and check out the dozens of great events that occur.

Spring: Golf 25 area courses, stroll downtown State Street mall, discover great shopping in downtown Madison, Hilldale, Greenway Station, East Towne and West Towne Malls, visit the Henry Vilas Zoo, or hike through the University of Wisconsin Arboretum. Enjoy the WI Book and Film Festival and more spring events.

Summer: Enjoy boating, biking and the best farmers’ market in the country! Weekly outdoor concerts on the Capitol Square, eating atop Monona Terrace, lounging on the Memorial Union or striking out to enjoy Cave of the Mounds, Taliesin or one of the picturesque European-style villages surrounding Madison.
