About the community
The Eau Claire Area is located in West Central Wisconsin and is comprised of the communities of Eau Claire, Altoona, and Menomonie, and the town of Union. The natural beauty of this area enticed settlers to live near tall stands of timber and flowing rivers. The Chippewa Valley is home to rich history with legacies left by lumber barons, hard-working immigrants and persevering pioneers. In the area’s more recent history the Eau Claire Area has become a major visitor destination, regional center for education, retail, industry and professional services. In addition, the area features unique meeting accommodations from elegant ballrooms to rustic retreats.
Attractions
The Eau Claire Area offers attractions from nature to performing arts. It is home to the Eau Claire, Red Cedar and Chippewa rivers, featuring scenic bluffs, waterfalls and overlooks. We also have apple orchards, pumpkin patches and Christmas tree farms. Nature abounds in the Chippewa Valley, from Beaver Creek Reserve, Lake Wissota State Park and the Ice Age Trail to our famous Cabin Ridge Rides. For the history buff, “Timber Trails” features the Chippewa Valley Museum, Paul Bunyan Logging Camp, Mabel Tainter Theater, Russell J. Rassbach Heritage Museum and Wilson Place Museum. Performing arts include the Fanny Hill Victorian Inn and Dinner Theatre, The State Regional Arts Center, Country Fest, Rock Fest, Country Jam USA and the Chippewa Valley Blues Festival.
